Here it is- my most recent AM assignment. It's the first acting shot and they asked for a character that is based on something you know, so as I've been tired ever since I started studying at Animation Mentor while working fulltime, I thought this might be a good topic to choose.

Next week I'm going to be at the fmx in Stuttgart, I'm sooo excited :)

Today I want to post the results of the first life drawing session after the easter break. It's hard not to focus to much on getting a pretty image but instead to really try to understand the underlying structures and forces that define a pose. And also I realised that as soon as I try to get more gestural drawings where I emphasise the rythm and flow of the shapes I tend to loose the grip on proportions. Well, at least there are many reasons for continuing these classes ;D
The tree sketch was just a little experiment with water colors, but I kind of like it so I post it here as well.

Hey there, I can't believe it, half of my journey at Animation Mentor is over already. Term 3 ended a week ago and now it's time to share the outcome with you. Here are the 3 scenes I did during the last 12 weeks, cut together and edited using AfterEffects. Well, when I look at them I can see tons of mistakes and things that I would like to change, but I guess that's a good thing as it shows that I've learned new things and sharpened my eye. I'm keen to hear what you think about it, so let me know :)

This term I got another amazing mentor. His name is T.Dan Hofstedt and he has tons of experience working for companies like Disney, Don Bluth and many more. I can't wait to learn from him more about the magical art called animation- even if that means that in another 12 weeks I can't look at the stuff I'm showing today without cringing ;D

Thanks to the great suggestion of Leon on my previous post, I did a version of my pirate using varied line weight and I think it really makes a huge difference. I wanted to share this with you and also thank Leon for his feedback :) I'm going to post my last AM assignment soon as well as some of my life drawings, but right now I don't have enough time to scan them in- 2 days to go, then there's an AM free weekend waiting for me. I have some sleep to catch up on so I guess that's what this weekend will be used for :)

here are the drawings I did during the last week. Again some life drawings where we focused on very quick poses this week (about 3 to 5 minutes) and also a few character designs I did. For the last 5 months I've heard only vague rumors, but yesterday I saw it with my very own eyes: there actually IS something widely known as THE SUN. I had almost forgotten what a mood brightener it can be :) Had a great weekend animating, drawing and relaxing in the great spring weather. Hi everybody,
this is going to be a huge post. I have life drawings, a speedpainting, sketchbook pages and my most recent animation assignmant to share. In this weeks life drawing class my tutor asked me to try and draw more loosely, thinking more in shapes than in lines and also to do some very quick and rough sketches. It's hard to leave the path you know, but it was fun and I hope somewhere down the line it will be rewarding as well ;) Right know I just see how much more I have to learn and practise to become really good at this. As always I'm looking forward to read your thoughts and opinions,
