I wanted to try out some different techniques and light settings and so I decided to use one of my sketches and do a couple of quick paints with it. Some are very rough, some a bit more polished. I played around with compositions and light direction as well as colors- still lots to learn, but this was a very fun exercise.

Another game that I did the design (character, background and user interface) and animation for was released a couple of days ago.
Here's a screenshot, that shows some game stills and infos. It was a fun, little project to work on and it made me happy to read in the reviews that the players enjoy the design.

Usually I post on the blog stuff that I do on the side, personal projects and random sketches, but now I want to share some impressions of the projects that I am working on currently or have been working on recently.
Right now I am working at studio Rakete as a keyframe character animater on an international full cg feature film, called "Ooops! Noah is gone..." and I am super excited about it. The story and dialogues are really fun, the designs look great and there is so much attention to detail that went into everything, that you can't help but notice it. The first renders look great, but of course I am only allowed to share what has already been published as promotional stills.
The other project that I have recently finished is an i-pad game called "Marco Polo Ocean". I did some of the designs and most of the animations (2D) and it got featured by apple as best new app in 4 categories and ended up being No#1 on the educational and kid's charts in 28 countries.
I also did a little intro movie for the app, which I'll post too.

Just a little sketch I did today. I started bringing a sketchbook to work so I can draw while my shots are playblasting and I already filled up quite a few pages- so there are more sketches to come. I just have to find a faster way to digitalize them without having a scanner.

Here is some paintings that I was commissioned to do for my client's daughter to have in her room.
It was such a fun project- I got a detailed description of the little girls interests and personality and was pretty much free to come up with ideas that I thought fitting. In the end we tweaked two of the paintings to become more fantastical and because I kinda like both versions I decided to post them next to each other.
