I realised that the gaps between my posts seem to get longer and longer so I decided to upload a few sketches I did lately. I don't really know why, but I had the urge to draw dogs, so here they are- hairy, fury and awfully cute (at least their real life counterparts ;D ).

Well, the last one isn't a dog literally speaking, as you might have guessed ;)

... in the theatre ;) Finally I feel happy enough with my latest shot that I dare uploading it here. I still see things that I would want to tweak and polish, but for now it's time to move on and start working on a new scene. I tried hard to change the appearance of the famous Bishop rig so it looks more unique, but from now on this will be far more easy. Animation Mentor has released a new, fully-customizable rig!!! I'm so excited and can't wait to start testing it :) To round off this post I also want to show a few of my latest sketches and designs :) Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and opinions!

Long time no post- but I've a great excuse: I spent an amazing week at the animation festival in Annecy. Met fantastic people, watched amazing movies, relaxed in the sun and explored the beautiful city and enjoyed life as such :) I'm still working on my lipsync assignment and don't want to post it until I've put in the facial animation, but in the meantime I've some character design sketches that I want to share. I did them during the last few days without any real purpose other then playing around with shapes and trying to get some attitude in my poses. Looking forward to comments and critisism :) PS: When's the next festival- I'm addicted now :D

Hey all,
I'm back again from the fmx and I found it really hard to adjust back to a normal daily life routine ;) We had such an amazing time and being surrounded by so many animation enthuasiasts all day was such a great experience that I just can't wait for the next event like this to come. The talks and lectures were really amazing- I finally managed to attend Ed Hook's "Acting for Animators" workshop, but also the talk about "How to train your Dragon" by Simon Otto and "Anatomy for Character Design" by the fantastic Stuart Sumida were truly inspirational and revived all my animation spirits. Well I could go on and on about many more interesting talks and all the fantastic people I met, some for the first time, some I hadn't seen in ages, but to cut a long story short- it was a brilliant week and I can't wait for Annecy to come :D

Here it is- my most recent AM assignment. It's the first acting shot and they asked for a character that is based on something you know, so as I've been tired ever since I started studying at Animation Mentor while working fulltime, I thought this might be a good topic to choose.

Next week I'm going to be at the fmx in Stuttgart, I'm sooo excited :)

Today I want to post the results of the first life drawing session after the easter break. It's hard not to focus to much on getting a pretty image but instead to really try to understand the underlying structures and forces that define a pose. And also I realised that as soon as I try to get more gestural drawings where I emphasise the rythm and flow of the shapes I tend to loose the grip on proportions. Well, at least there are many reasons for continuing these classes ;D
The tree sketch was just a little experiment with water colors, but I kind of like it so I post it here as well.

Hey there, I can't believe it, half of my journey at Animation Mentor is over already. Term 3 ended a week ago and now it's time to share the outcome with you. Here are the 3 scenes I did during the last 12 weeks, cut together and edited using AfterEffects. Well, when I look at them I can see tons of mistakes and things that I would like to change, but I guess that's a good thing as it shows that I've learned new things and sharpened my eye. I'm keen to hear what you think about it, so let me know :)

This term I got another amazing mentor. His name is T.Dan Hofstedt and he has tons of experience working for companies like Disney, Don Bluth and many more. I can't wait to learn from him more about the magical art called animation- even if that means that in another 12 weeks I can't look at the stuff I'm showing today without cringing ;D
